AA Arsenal 12 vs. Eclipse 8200???

I currently have an AA Arsenal 12 in a 1ft^3 sealed MDF enclosure powered by a PG Xenon 600.1. My question is if I put an Eclipse 8200 in this same enclosure powered by the same amp would I gain anything either in SQ or SPL? I hope to gain opinions of those who have heard both of these subs as I have not heard the Eclipse.

    Thanks in advance.

I wish I could help you, but I've never heard an Arsenal

I do however have my 8200 in 1 cube sealed, and its VERY loud 50-60hz but a very peaky response. Unless you have more space, i wouldn't recommend getting an 8200. I'm planning to either go bigger sealed or something else, I just dont like how big of a peak the response curve is in 1^3 sealed with the 8200.

As was mentioned...the Eclipse wouldn't be very happy in a 1cuft sealed enclosure. They need room to breath.

Performance wise under "ideal" conditions, the Eclipse has the edge. But in that enclosure, you wouldn't want to use the 8200.

Thanks!!! Another question now, what size enclosure would work well for the 8200? Eclipse recommends .5ft^3 to 1.5ft^3 but I would like your recommendation.

    Thanks Again

Thats what I'm trying to figure out now

Follow my thread on the 8200 for more info

Well, if you use the specs listed on Eclipse's website...you would really want about 4cuft for optimal results.

Awesome!!! I try to build my own boxes (sealed) and from the responses your thread received I may try the 8200 in a 2.5ft^3 sealed.

A 2.5cu will significantly reduce the peak of the response curve, but as squeak said 4 cubes would be ideal.

im using an lms4k in a 1cube sealed box.. gets loud and sounds great.. also its powered off 500 rms... i was very suprised on the output with the small enclosure and little power. huge enclosures are optimal, but not needed

But how is the response curve? My 8200 peaks between 50 and 60, gets very loud, but the response is very uneven (drops quickly above and below that range)

That is a boomy response you have because that enclosure is way to small for the linear motor. It needs a much larger sealed box for smooth response. I would say put it in at least 2 cubic feet. Ideally 3 cubic feet.

An answer straight from the builders.

Thanks to squeak and others also for helping.

i ran mine in a 3.5 cubes box at 30 hz. it's was very nice and have a very smooth response. i just didn't have enough power to make it as loud as i wanted. awsome drive though, just not a space saver.

    it's a small system.
