I have two Infinity Perfect 12s in a dual bandpass box with the specs that Infinity recomends. They are powered by a 2000 watt amp. They are in a 1990 grand prix ste. I have a pioneer ph9300 deck with non fading sub preamps. They are 4V. 300 watt amp powering my Pioneer 6 x 9s. I have Pioneer 6 1/2s in my door. 5 1/4s in the dash, and a tweeter in each door. I've never tested it before so I dont really know how. How do I do it? How loud should the music be because I can turn it up to 35 out of 40 before distortion.

I looked it up and radio shack has digital ones for 50 but they only read up to 126 db

Their limit is 130db on the high scale, and are off as much as 12dB on the lower end of the octaves. There are a few sites that have mapped out their non-linearities against a B&K meter to give a reference line for those using them for minor room acoustics.

They are NOT eight dollars though - cheapest I've seen them is they have the analog one for 35.

oh dang, i was wanting to get my metered when i get all my stuff hooked up but i didnt really wanna spend like 200 dollars on a high quality meter

Maybe a local shop will let you test it out...if they have a mic.
