    Alpine Type S subs?

There are lots of discussions on the Type R subs but what about the Type S? How do they compare to other subs in the 300 RMS category?

why bother when the type r is $120 shipped?

if you can't afford $120 shipped, theres no point about talking about a type s...

theres only a $20 difference on ebay shipped and you can have a sub that handles up to 1K rms...

What if he only has a 300 rms amp and doesn't want to power a type r with only 300 watts?

my first sub was a type s and it was OK at best. im playing around with a type r and its a pretty big difference in performance (and im only feeding the type r 600 rms)

    so...

more head room...what if he wants to get a bigger amp in the future?

a type r will sound decent with 300 rms anyways...

and if you're gonna spend $100, why not add another $20 and get something 2x better?

i say the incremental increase in power handling and sound easily, EASILY outweight a measily additional $20 when you're spending $100 already...
