Dual 4 Ohm Voice Coil Subs....

Somebody I work with said he has dual 4 Ohm voice coil subs and he is running them at 2 ohm...however when I look at all the wiring diagrams to show you how to hook up dual 4 ohm voice coil subwoofer they only show how to run them at 4 and at 1 ohm...is it possible to even run them at 2 ohm? dumb question I know...but I am still a noob...lol...so any help would be appreciated....

Re: Dual 4 Ohm Voice Coil Subs....

man...lol...ok back to the stupid questions...I went to the RF site and looked at the wiring wizard...I have two subs I am wiring up that are Dual 4 Ohm Voice Coil my amp is a little too powerful and 2 ohm would be perfect...so when the wizard gives you the option of putting in the quantity of subwoofers I put in 2 Subs and the only options that came up were 4 ohm and 1 ohm...I went to 1 sub and it showed this exact diagram for 2 ohm....can I still run 2 ohm with 2 subs? lol I know this is the Noob question of the century probably...but I am askin'...instead of parading around like I know...which is better I think...

Re: Dual 4 Ohm Voice Coil Subs....

if you bought an amp for each sub you could run them at 2 ohms, but if you want to run them togethe it has to be 1 or 4 ohms with d4 subs.

Re: Dual 4 Ohm Voice Coil Subs....

if u have two dual 4 ohm subs, the only possible final load is gonna be 1 ohm or 4 ohms....unless u want to run 2 separate amps, then u can run each at 2 ohms

Re: Dual 4 Ohm Voice Coil Subs....

a single dual 4 ohm sub can be wired in parralell for a 2 ohm impedence. now when you take 2 of those subs and wire both of them in paralell, that creates a 1 ohm load for the pair of subs
