    bracing needed for ported box???

    iight, im gonna be making my first box pretty soon, a ported one. i know its gonna be a challenge, but im down wit it.

    iight im all about SPL so im makin a huge ported enclosure for a pair of 12" kickr compvrs (approx dimensions 15x27x34) with a port down the middle (4x6 7" deep).
    Will the box need bracing??? if so, how would i go bout doin so????

    yall guyz think im on the right track,??? if theres anythin wrong feel free to correct me, or wuteva

    any advice is appreciated

    ya, you can brace it for extra support. it's not NECESSARY< but it will slow the process of box flexing and strengthen your box. it's easy to brace, just add more pieces around the edges like in corners ETC. or an even better method is cross bracing, making wood go on a 45degree from side to side across the sides of the box. like in an X position

    but wut do you mean.. making xs across the box... like xtra walls in the box or ...?

    like build an X across the walls of the box, so the middle braces go from all 4 corners of the box.. there'd be 3 pieces of wood brace, cuz it's an X, and u need to cut one in half to get thru the other :p hear me?

    You can get a peice of wood and measure it out and then use a circle cutter on a drill to perferate it.

    pre-drill holes for an enclosure??? wuts that all bout? how do you go bout doing that?

    cut me sum slack im sorta new to dis car audio field... and this will be my first box.

    just get like an electric screwdriver/drill, and get a smaller bit than the threads on your box screws, and drill holes whereever your screws will go. this way it is easier to put screrws in, and if u dont pre-drill, the wood will crack

    can anyone tell me if im on the right track....

    this is the setup

    2 12" kicker compvrs
    ported box (16 x 27 x34)
    one chamber, port in the middle (4 x 6 7" deep)

    sound right???

    any any any advice is very much appreciated
