mtx9500 12 or alpine type x 12

what sub would be better for my friend he wants to get loud but also sound good for now he has a mtx 942 to push whatever sub he gets i can get him the type x for 280 not sure about the 9500 yet what should he go for

talked to an alpine rep
the type X is more of a SQ woofer then for spl
so if ur looking for spl go with the 9500
if not go witht he type X for sure.

they both look like ****** drivers... i agree with ^, the 9500 is a better choice for spl

type x... ive heard BOTH, the type x gets REAL loud and it is one of the best sounding subs ive heard doing it... 9500 gets loud as he// but, no sq what so ever so think about it. would u rather give up like .2 - .4 on the mic to hvae something that u can drive around and listen to that sounds awesome? id compare the type x to the diamond tdx ... a sub that can get extremely loud and sound great doing it

id say the 9500 is prolly like the 7500's
a 60/40 SPL/SQ

if u want to get a sub that sounds GREAT n gets LOUD
get a 12W7

x2 The mtx can sound decent. Ide take it over the type x any day of the week, and I sell alpine equipment.

Well from the setups I've heard with those Alpine Type-X's I have enjoyed every single one. The amount of wattage they need to run though isn't so much fun. They can handle 1500 watts with ease and need at least 1000 to run properly.

The 9500 is MTX Flagship and it's a good sub and all. But I personally like the Alpine Type X because it can do everything the 9500 can do and it's cheaper as well. and if you can get one for 280 why not grab it for him. It's a great sub and will get EXTREMELY loud!!!!

i dont want to be a schwab here or anything if the amp is the mtx thunder 942 it dont think it would work for the type X. and yes you can get the type X 250 all day.

i know i found out that wont work because the amp so hes looking at maybe getting two type r's how do u think they would sound off that amp

When I heard the MTX 9500, I was very impressed. It sounded **** good to me. They were two 12's in a Sledgehammer box.

As for the two Type R's. Nice choice. It would be louder than one Type X. OH and they sound niiiice too. Just make sure to get the 2005 versions
