Wow, had a scare this morning, went outside to pull my truck under the carport and crankedup and the red caution light came on on the amp and no output from subs, I pulled the fuses on the amp, put them back in, and got it cranked back up and no problems. I don't know what coulda caused that. Anyway talked to a guy today said he could get me some 3/4'' MDF for about 13$ a sheet(however big that is) I'm thinking about working on a few different designs for a box. What do you think guys? Think I can do it?

I talked to kicker they said that the side port mass loads the port for better SPL so it looks like I will be going out the side with the port. How exactly do I make the port part of the box? A ported box is basically a big sealed box with like a tunnel in it out through the port hole/slot right? Where would I need bracing etc, what would you recommend for port length and size for the two L7's and max SPL out of them?

WEll I found a place to do my box. They do good work, a guy with two cerwin vega 12's (not strokers but the black coned ones) in a box built by this guy and he hit 170.2 in the port wars. Isn't that pretty good for two average 12's? The only problem is this guy wants 425$ for a ported box for my 2 L7's and 450 if he puts carpet on it. Could I get a better deal?

audiolife, I think I can build the actual box part myself, but I need some help on what to do to the inside in order to tune the port and get max SPL etc. One main question I have is, since the box will be really tall, does the port have to go all the way up to the top or should it be the size kicker recommends and basically be a rectangular tunnel out of the box? I'm going outside to get some official measurements and I wil ldraw it up on the computer then I'll post it here. I'd appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks.

here are my drawings, I didn't take out for the width of the wood but its close enough like it is. Anyone know if in Louisiana you can have something covering your back glass? If so I can probably get another 1.5 ft^3 out of my space. THE IMAGE WON'T FIT ON HERE. Can I email it to you?

Went by a different shop today to get a price quote on the box. At first the guy(like everyone else around here) said you couldn't fit it. Then he went out there to look and said well it might be possible. He was installing some TV's in an expedition though and told me to come back monday and he would measure it. He said if he can get about 7ft^3 then he'll do it for me for about 225$. That sounds a lot more reasonable to me. I still don't know if I'd be better off doing it myself or letting him do it. What do you guys think?

    the shape of my box...

Ok I think this picture is small enough to go on the page. This is the basic shape of my new ported box. Any ideas as to what type of bracing I should use? I'm thinking the triangular braces will work well but I'm no expert, so I am open for suggestions.

Oh yea, I drew it using "paint" so it isn't too bad. Thats the shape and area though that I have to work with, I haven't measured how high I'll have to go yet to get the 7 cubes I'll need but I will be doing that in a few mins. Is that particular shaped box going to be extremely difficult to build? I really have it all planned out in my head but when I start cutting boards and putting things together I may begin to think it's a lil more difficult than what I'm thinking right now.
