Why don't we ever have wonderful tech conversations like that on this board? It seems to me every thread on this board turns into either "this product is better than that" or like i said in a previous post, just a bunch of regurgitated questions, with their matching regurgitated awnsers.

I know the basic anatomy of a sub but the technical shyt about the 'top plate' and 'gap' . . . 'overhung' (like me lol j/k) . . .. 'underhung' . . . 'even hung'. . . . what ever!!! its all jibberish to me. But it was kind of interestesting to see our little Automobile cheer leader stumble over his own buckling knees question after question![]()

We occasionally get technical. Some things can't be described any other way. But alot of the people on this forum are just starting out. So I myself try to put stuff in the easiest terms to understand. You can freely ask alot of questions here without getting ridiculed the way you would on other forum's. It has it's good points and bad as well. I will be more than happy to have a technical discussion with you. As I'm sure alot of others would alsoOriginally posted by LoneRanger

alright, care to explain what BL is and what it does?
i saw it come up in that thread, whats a BL? body langauge of the sub?
i decided not to have a signature

Okay let me give it a shot. BL is determined by the flux density in the magnetic gap and the length of voice coil wire in the gap. A higher BL will most of the time result in a speaker with a higher sensitivity. This doesn't necessarily mean that all speakers with a higher BL will produce a higher SPL. Alot of speakers with very high BLs also have a smaller Xmax than there lower BL counterparts. I think that's about right. Josh, Big bassman ?Originally posted by more_spl

LOL...who wants to talk about the throw of a sub...Who knew that XMax was not the determining factor of SPL...if you don't believe me, check out the RFL...Originally posted by jtmoney

I think your right...I don't exactly understand all the tech talk either, like your custom label says...I'm still learning, and am not afraid to admit it...Originally posted by ramos
