Component problem

I hooked up my components today and they sound bad. Very staticy. The right side isnt too bad but some the left side is all static. I have Phoenix Gold TX5.0COMP 5-1/4 with a Profile CA200 2-Channel Amplifier. I dont know if i have the amp set wrong or what but could i get some advice. Maybe the tweeter is no good?

What is the location of your power wires, in relation to your RCA wires? If you can, try to keep the power and RCA wires as far as you can away from eachother, throughout their entire length. Give that a shot, report back with results.

That's a nice myth. But the amount of induced noise would be so low, that it wouldn't be audible. I've never separated my power wire and RCA's and never had any noise issues. Richard Clark will pay you $1,000 if you can make a power wire induce audible noice into an RCA. So, in all likelyhood, I very much doubt that's the problem.


The RCA's may be damaged in some way. The ends may have poor connections, or they may have a puncture in their insulation causing them to touch bare metal.

Is this the first speakers you've had the amp on? What type of LOC are you using?

On page 3, 4, or 5 of my worklog i have pictures of an amplifier rack that i built... before i built the amplifier rack all the power, rca, and speaker LEDs were all messy in my trunk and i had lots of noise... then when i built the rack, all power and rcas were separated, with RCAs on the left and power wire on the right, and i didn't have any noise. This was using the same RCA's, power wire, grounding location, everything... just different positioning.

I'm going to assume that you disconnected all the wires from the amps, then reconnected them? If so, you changed more variables then just the wire positioning You changed tens, if not hundreds, of variables without realizing it. You could have had a wire somewhere touching bare metal (without realizing it), but after the position change it was no longer (and hence less noise). Etc etc. So, just as an FYI, you can't contribute the change solely to the new wire positioning.

using this LOC NE-7V Two-Channel High Quality Line Level Adapter (David Navone) And it is only the left side. What should my amp setting be on for a set of speakers?
