Front stage with only co-axials?

Is it worth going for a front sound stage with only co-axials?

I don't really want to get components for permanent modification reasons, but I am looking for better sound quality. My current setup is decent, but I think the Kappa highs are too harsh, and there isn't enough midbass.

My amp can do 50x4 or 100x2 bridged, so I was wondering if I should bother getting a set of high quality co-axials and just running fronts along with the sub, or if I would notice the lack of rears since the tweeters would be near my knees.

10" Alpine Type-R
All powered by a SoundStream 800.5 Amp

well if ur goin wif a frontstage of co-axials and ur not goin wif components then y not, if u get a high qual set should be fine

look at it this way a ****** pair of comps is not goin 2 compare wif a good set of co-ax so id say it would b fine

I'm running just coaxials for my fronts...Boston Acoustics FX6's, with 100 watts per channel going to them. Gets loud, sounds good

a good set of coaxs is basicaly a fixed component set---lots of coaxs come with crossovers, the main difference is that you don't have a seperate tweeter to put where you want it.

same here, I run a type of a coax on my front stage, if they are high quality and setup right then you will get awsome imaging, I sure do!

Just make sure to run them off an amp...can't expect any speaker to do well with insufficient power.

I don't know what your "permanent modification reasons" are.....but you can install components without having to permanent modify something.

Anyways, it depends on your definition of "good quality". Bostons are good quality co-axials. Focal has some high quality co-axials. The AURA MR62's that desertheat is using are good but hard to find.

Yep, only downside, I now have the last 8 sets in the country that are known of! woohoo!
