    Good 6 1/2" Driver

Are Dayton 6 1/2 woofers any good? Specifically the DC160S-4. What else would be a good choice for a 6 1/2" driver, 4 ohms, with a frequency response that's at least 80hz-3khz, for less than $40 a pair? I'm looking to build my own component set.

    New setup in the works:
    Vehicle: 1999 Ford Windstar
    Head Unit: Pioneer Premier DEH-P860MP
Signal Processing: Profile Q100 3-Way active crossover, set to 80hz and 3.5khz
High Pass: the legendary Aura tweeters powered by a Pioneer GM-3000T
Band Pass: Ascendant Audio 6.5" Poly Midwoofers powered by a Pioneer GM-5000T
Low Pass: Elemental Designs 19Ov.2 in 3ft^3 tuned to 30hz, powered by a Power Acoustik 2APC-1400

    Re: Good 6 1/2" Driver

Definatley go with the Daytons before the Goldwoods.

Im also looking to make my own comps. What kind of crossover do you plan on using?
    What about the tweeter.

Ive been looking at the Dayton Classic 6 1/2 inch woofers, and Audax TM025F1 tweets, and probably a dayton crossover. Adds up to only 120ish bucks.

    Eclipse CD8053
    Arc Audio XXK4050
    Rainbow ProVandis ran active
    Arc Audio XXK1500
    (2) SI Gen2. Mags

Refs: FoxPro5, MastaFlex, LeX, Valant_94gt, eBay account too.

    Re: Good 6 1/2" Driver

Then you need to verify what impedence drivers that crossover was designed for. If it was designed for use with a 4ohm mid, then you can't use an 8ohm mid (well, you can, but the results would likely be less than stellar).

    Re: Good 6 1/2" Driver

It's 4 ohm, so I've only been looking at 4 ohm drivers.
