5 1/8 mounting diameter, wtf?

My speakers are Sony XS-V1633, which are 6.5" speakers according to Cardomain. I also have Roadmaster 6.5" "subwoofers" that will NOT mount in the same area.

So I finally just say "screw it" and measure the mounting diameter. 5 1/8". Exactly what can I mount there? 5 1/4s, or just certain 6.5"s and not others?

some 6.5s have slightly larger cutouts than others, and some have slightly smaller than others. most 6.5s have a mounting diameter of around 5 5/8"

1992 Ford Taurus GL without any special sound system packages.

I can mount the sonys in there fine, but the Roadmasters don't fit. However, the roadmasters are designed for the wooden box they were sold in. I know 1/8" is nowhere near enough room to mount a 5 1/4, so this is annoying me. The overall diameter of the Roadmaster is almost exactly 6.5, and the sony is more 6.25.

yuh they have 6.5's 7's and 8's that are all goofy over sized under sized. i know kenwoods fit those and pioneers you go something like adire it might not fit (but can be made to fit pretty easy)

I'm talking to Tplaya07 about it, since I'm getting Oz Vectors. I'm seriously thinking I should just build new mounts and add a spot for the tweeter or something, as well.
