    Help me pick some components

Okay, here's the challenge. I want good, but I don't know what good is. This is my second install, so all I know as far as front staging is Stock, Sony, and Roadmaster.

I have roughly $150 - $200, and I'll attach whatever I buy to a Jensen JXP460 (Renamed to A46XP later on). Advertises 85wrms X 2 @ 4 ohm. 30 amp fuse, I figure worse case scenario is 60RMS per channel. It used to drive 10s in a friends car.

I hear stuff about DLS, RE, CDT, Oz, and the usual mainstream stuff, but as usual, I can't actually listen to any of it since in this part of Michigan, if it's not found in BB, CC, or isn't Anaba or Pyramid, it doesn't exist.

SO, All I'm asking is for maybe a review of components you've heard, or a link or two to some reviews of different components in my price range. Maybe this will help me with my decision. Thanks.

Leaning toward Oz Vector 6.5s (Woofer in door, tweeter wherever I put it.)

Re: Help me pick some components

NO. No more ebay. I'm sick of that sh*t. Every thing car audio I buy on ebay is either damaged even though it's "new" or a "Working" amplifier that filters out everything but static. Either new, or from the classified. No ebay.

That said, I'm reading through as much of this forum as possible. I do it regularly, but now I have a reason. I'll post a bunch of brands I find, and if you see something you want to vouch for, do it.

RE RE 6.5's, anyone have experience? $160 + shipping
RE is quite a trusted brand around here. Even I recommend them, based off the innumerable good reviews their subs get.

    Oz Vectors, +/- 2 decibels from 50hz-20khz! $130ish + shipping
Squeak's *****, he pimps these things for every cheapy component thread. Sure, +/- 2db is nice, and their higher line did get that perfect score in the IASCA.

Image Dynamics CX-S6. Price? $350 MSRP... Oh... nevermind. Haha.

CDT? Too much? Looks like it..

Rainbow Dreamlines! $150 + shipping?! I must know! This company puts about 50% of their profits into R&D. Again, like RE, I've yet to see a bad review!

Re: Help me pick some components

I'm seriously leaning towards them. I'm just sceptical. I mean, I could cotact tdplaya07 (sp?) and get them $115 shipped, wouldn't everyone with no money and need for components run them?

ED 6000s, not out yet last I knew, but in my price range. I'll have to think about that one.

Re: Help me pick some components

i had oz vectors comps in my 97 taurus and loved em to death. i had too much power going to them and sometimes if i overpowered them instead of frying or distorting like hell the protection circuit in them would simply turn em off. and they did indeed sound great. the prices you listed for em can't be beat IMHO.

Well, all I really have to go by is numbers and reviews. The REs are looking more appealing after this.

Re: Help me pick some components

I've heard good things about the RE mids; not so good things about the RE tweets. That's all personal preference though.

Pimping the Vectors is my "response" to the CDT pimps

DLS has a good comp set in your price range as well.....MR6 I believe is the model #. Either that or MS6? Can't recall right now You can get them from Tplaya07 for ~$215 shipped. He can get you the Vectors for ~$115 shipped aswell.

The Focal Access and Polyflex are in your price range. As well as the little-known Peerless Definitions ($179).

Okay, so there's a bunch more brands. Naturally, none of 'em have ever been reviewed or anything...

what size ar eyou lookin for? i've got a set of 5.25 comps that'll blow all the above mentioned away. as a matter of fact, i havent heard anything under 500 that sounds better. i use the 6.5's in my car

Re: Help me pick some components

I can mount 5.25s, but I was really hoping for 6.5s because of the midbass. Right now, I changed my mind again, and plan on getting the RE components and just replacing the tweeters with Aura ones I'm getting from DesertHeat.
