Dynaudio?

I was browsing ebay and came across a component set called Dynaudio 340 3-way component set. It was like $750, on Ebay! I assume they must be good for them to be that expensive on ebay. Has anyone ever heard or heard of Dynaudio?

Haven't listened to those speaker, but I've definitely heard of Dynaudio. Very good speakers, very high end (as you noticed).

Wouldn't that differ for everyone? I like how the dyn's sound, and I've heard Utopia's. Heard CDT Eurosports. I'd only replace mine if I could get my hands on some brand new scanspeak mids or skanning. It'd be a bltch to design a xo though.

perhaps i was not clear...I favor the Dyns- they are much smoother yet pleasantly sharp, Focals have this in your face, midrange overhaul sound- Dyn GT's are a more balanced sounding set IMO
Not bashing the Foocals, but they do have their own distinct sound,

The best speaker companies IMO are Rainbow, DLS, and Dynaudio- lol they are all European and all compete in both the home/car audio market there along with Focal

But I must say, I'm speaking on experiece hearing 2way sets, dunno if the 3way sets offer a different experience

I had the pleasant opportunity t hear some Rainbow components that cost $6000 or something. Wow... but I wouldn't say it's $6000 worth of wow.

Never heard the dyns and focals side by side, just out of all the speakers I've heard, I would rate them as the two best. Not the same sound, but both are amazing.

I just ordered a set of DLS ur6s. I've heard the up6 and was amazed. Hopefully the ur6 is that much better.

If i was to buy any of the sets named on here, such as the Dynaudios, what should i set the crossover at on my headunit? Options are 125, 80, 50, off

Use the passive crossover (they go for $100 here just for the xo) that comes with the set. hu crossover high pass to 80, or whatever your subwoofer is set at.

dyns are a powerful regular speaker when used in THEIR ..midbasses by themselves used with a horn **** lol key to their design is all their speakers have huge vc diameters. lol i like focal but to say they are the best cracks me up. i have heard focal systems i wouldnt wipe my tush with (i can say that about any speakers though) as an installer you still gotta pull it off. youd be suprised how many systems i seen where if you shut your eyes you can pin point where every speaker is (home or car) if you can do that the system *****.

Thiel and partner has diamond tweeters. Goes for about 2.5~3G a pop.

Yes, supply is limited.

In the end though, it's not all up to the driver. If you can set it accordingly, a decent set might sound better than the most expensive drivers you can find on the market.

Personally, I'd build my own component set by mixing and matching and making my own xo's than to pay thousands for one that was made by someone else.
