So what frequencies do you want this mid to cover?Originally Posted by cjj2d

no more than $300 for a pair. My Diamonds are 5 1/4" and yes the 150 watts to each of them make them scream and sound excellant, but you can only push so much mid bass out of a 5.25 speaker. They cover alot of ground but there is just something missing from where my Mag stops and they pick up. I wouldn't even mind going with an 8" mid bass.

Well you have a lot of options.
Where will these be mounted?
Koda's might work really well for you. You can also get some very nice Audax and Davis drivers for that much too. 6.5's of course. Morel / Usher / ScanSpeak for 8's.
Will the Koda 8 fit ? (4" mounting depth) $158 for a pair before shipping.

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=297-425 - I think these look interesing. Good amount of excursion for a DIY driver, looks like it plays pretty cleanly up to ~500hz
Anyways; Peerless, Vifa, Scanspeak, Usher, Max Fidelity, Morel, Dayton Audio and Seas all have good midbasses in that price range.

they will be mounted in my doors most likely. and the 5.25 Diamond will be put into kick panels.
The RE XXX looks like it has some strong potential. But I will definatly wait till more people have some experience with them. Koda's look like a good option for me as well.
