ID CXS Chameleon Comps.

Trying to figure out how much power to send to a set of the ID CXS52. They're 5.25" 2 ohm. RMS is "stated" to be 100watts and peak at 200watts.

I am not familiar with ID's power ratings so if anyone has used or knows someone who has used these, I'd be interested to know how much power they sent to them and how well the speakers took the power.

100-150 rms meaning an amp that does 50-80 watts rms into 4 ohms should fit the bill

great, thats about what i had in mind.

now in terms of amps. under $200 with 100-150watts x 2 ch. @ 2 ohm

1. Profile CL400 (150x2 @ 2ohm) $59 on ikesound
2. ED nine.2 (150x2 @ 2ohm) $175 from ED
3. Directed 300/2 (125x2 @ 2ohm)
4. Zapco I-250 i-Force (100x2 @ 2ohm) $140 on woofersEtc.
5. Soundstream RUB300-2 (150x2 @ 2ohm) $128 on woofersEtc

I've heard good things about Profile. they're inexpensive, but good power for the money. ED i've heard mixed reviews on but as far as i know they make a good product. i've always heard good reviews concerning Directed Audio. Zapco goes without saying, but i havent heard anything about the iForce line. I've heard good reviews of soundstream, especially their rubicon line.

Advice on which amp would best and most efficiently power the ID 5.25" 2 ohm chameleons would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

4 and 5 are prolly the best there then 2 and 3 then 1

yeah i was leaning towards the soundstream rubicon. any other takes on these options. thanks for the feedback.

i just won my set of CXS52 Chameleons NIB off of ebay for $215 shipped with insurance. i feel like i got a pretty darn good deal. i cant wait to install them over holiday break.

what about the Arc Audio 200.2 KAR Series Amp? or maybe the Arc Audio 2050 CXL Series (115x2 @ 2ohm). Not sure where the best place to purchase either of those are, but I'd be willing to shell out the extra dough for an arc amp.

arcs ok but for 200 bucks and prolly no real diff in sq (if any it will be minor) over the soundstream or zapco.

anyone know anything or familioar with the Soundstream Edge series? How do they compare to the Rubicons?

Well I'm looking in the range of 100-150watts. Do you have any specific amp recommendations?

I've been thinking about it and I'd like to get a 4ch. so I can run a pair of 6.25" ID drivers in the front to complement the 5.25 comps with no rear fill.

I was specifically looking at the Soundstream VGA 320.4.

How do you like yours audiolife? Its rated at 160w x 4 @ 2ohm(underrated?), wondering if the Chameleons would be alright with that power.
