    coax question

    is there any advantage to having round coax's (5 1/4) over 5x7/6x8's? i need to replace my factory front door speakers which are 5x7. i went to 3 different shops and was told that round coax's are better??? can anyone clarify this. thanks

    generally round speakers have better SQ

    Yes, rounds sound better..... My 6 1/2's up front sound way better than my 4x6's in the back....thats purely on SQ

    Oval speakers distort sooner than round speakers when you increase the volume.

    Low Pass: Elemental Designs 19Ov.2 in 3ft^3 tuned to 30hz, powered by a Power Acoustik 2APC-1400

    That's why plate speakers are cool. They have a two round speakers (mid & tweet) installed on a "plate" that will drop right in to your oval factory openings (4x6, 5x7,6x8). Kinda like a psuedo-component set with much better sound than oval speakers.

    I had the Boston 746 4 x 6 plate speakers, and they were awesome.
