4 ch amp decision

I'm looking for a solid 4 ch amp that pounds and that will last for a loooong time. I'm coming from a profile cl640 (don't laugh). hows the pheonix gold octane line? i was thinking about the 5.0:4 75x4. Originally i was considering the tsunami which is like ten bucks more. Or should I opt for the avionixx (like 85 watts insetad of 75 i think) for a tad more? Or any other good suggestions for a good 4 ch amp? I'm gonna power my infinity references but will upgrade speaks later to either re comps (front)/cdt braxials (rear) or focal access comps/coax.

And which would you guys rather have? RE comps/cdt braxials or focal acces front and rear (comps/coax)? I'm looking for strong midbass, smooth tweeters. My infinitys are weak in midbass and the tweeters are too harsh.

suggestions on amp and speaks would be helpful. don't want to spend more than 200 shipped for amp and 350-400 shipped for speaks front AND back.

you could always get those cdt's that are only 150 atm, i was looking at the directed 75x4 its like 150 as well... so theres some (two of them) 6.5 cdt's with a nice 4ch amp ... if you were getting 4 speakers and a 4ch amp, it would cost $450 for your whole component system (crossovers+4cdt 6.5's+4ch amp)

thats what i was thinking about doing.
maybe get 5.25's for the front tho. prolly would cost a few $ less too =P

how are the re components?

150 for the cl-62 is really impressive, isn't that how much teh cl-61 is? what's the diff between the two? does he carry braxials? i'd rather have those in my rear fill than coax

and refurbed is whack, everything i get will be new

Sorry about the zeb, I was just trying to help.

For the amp, I would go with the Phoenix Gold out of those. Proven quality that will last forever.

For the speakers, you really have to listen to some of these to get a good idea of what you like hearing. If your Infinity stuff was as you described, the cdt is supposed to be stronger midbass and smoother tweeters. I don't know about the Focal or RE stuff though. I will say though that you have named three quality sets that will leave your sound quality up to your install. The minute differences really stand out when you listen to the sets back to back somehwere. If you like the sound of some speakers, go with them, it doesn't matter what brand they are.

I personally would never laugh at a profile amp or most any other equipment because the mobile audio game is too personal. People like their sound a certain way and that's what we are all after.

I would still laugh at anyone with a profile amp, I didn't get it cuz I liked the sound lol.

But yes, I am looking for strong midbass and smooth bass, and if that's what the cdt's will do, i'm sold. I'm kinda stuck between getting the cl-62's or the carbon fiber and upgrading the 3/4 titanium tweet to 1" silk

As for the amp, someone on here had an octane pg and said they had problems. I'm assuming the tantrums are better built but I was thinking about the avionixx anyway cuz it's cheaper...

Without listening to them, I would get the base set. In my hearing tests, the light cones had a noticeable wobble that I could hear when it wasn't playing a note. I didn't like that at all. I don't think people would notice it though, and it was purely my preference as well. You should go listen to Diamond Audio's or something like that that have base cone and then the Kevlar cone. Listen to them back to back and see if you like. If you do, then do the upgrade.
Also, switch between titanium and silk tweeters with the same mid's. Pick your favorite of those two.
I know it's different manufacturers, but you will know what type of materials preference you have.
Amps are alittle easier for me too. With all decent equipment, I let price dictate the final choice.
