    6.5 vs 5 .25 dillema

i have a jeep cherokee and soon i will be getting some components. i have not really heard components b4 except in demo cars and such.

if i go with 6 1/2 i will go with the cdt's on the zeb
if i go with 6 1/4 i will go with diamond audio m6's

me vehicle has stock 5 1/4 speakers really low in the door and i planned to flush mount the tweets in the a pillar. i would have a hard mounting 6 1/2's in the door since i have never used a jigsaw or anything.

my question is. would i really notice a lack of midbass?

i understand that thats not my question.

will i (someone who has not really heard components) notice the lack of midbass in those two components above? if yes will it be very noticeable?

    components are for midbass.
i have not gotten mine in so i havent heard components before.
The CDT's might have more midbass than the diamonds.
it also depends on which CDT's

Components aren't just for midbass. Everything sounds better on a set of good components; Midbass, Midrange and the higher frequencies.

Anyways.....if you can, stop in to a local dealer (even if it's Best Buy or Circut City, but an actual car audio dealer probably has a higher quality/better selection) and see what all they have on display. See if you can listen to the same set in both sizes and see what you think. It really doesn't matter what brand they are, but it should give you a *general* idea of the differences in midbass between speaker sizes. Some will be greater than others, but again, it's just to give you a general idea.

Don't forget, install plays a big part of how good your midbass response is. You need to sound deaden the doors very well, completely seal off the front of the door (where the speaker is mounted) from the rear of the door (the open space behind the speaker) and mount the speaker on a solid, non-resonanting surface (plastic is less than ideal). Doing these things will yield better midbass response out of any set of speakers.

Will you notice a difference; Probably not until you hear a pair of well installed 6.5" comps. The 5.25s should do pretty good though.
