    help with Alpine Speakers

I have 6.5 Type R Comps in the front and 4" Type S in the Rear

Amp Alpine MRV340, and the deck is a Alpine 9815,

i recently took out my Sub because i need the trunk space on a trip, and there was hardly and bump, bass or anything comeing from them. My girls stock explorer had more bass. Why dont they bump, im pretty sure type r's arent just made to just play highes

    Re: help with Alpine Speakers

Why do you think your gains are messed up??

Your gain should be set to 4V also (or very close to around there). Don't go cranking the gain because you want your 6.5" speakers to "bump." They weren't made to play deep bass.....a high-pass of anywhere from 50-80hz is probably appropriate (unless you want to risk damaging them). Especially those 4" speakers in back....they probably can't go below 100hz too effectively.

    Re: help with Alpine Speakers

maybe you missunderstood when i said my gains were messed up, the guy who did the install(horrable job) set them so when the HP filter was on they sounded great but when i turned the filter off the bump bass was scratchy, that is why i was asking where they should be, they used to be half way up and i brought them down to 1/4 way the scratching went away but is this appropriate? also what should my crossover frequencies be set to?
