ugh double post again.
I really don't like buying used. but my friend is looking for something just like that hertz set^ so I'll forward it to him.
I am really leaning towards buying the woofers separate and going active. That way I can save some money since I don't need the crossovers. So what I need is a midwoofer like a dayton rs180 or silver flute, but one that can handle 200watts a piece. and a matching tweeter. Since the midwoofer will be mounted off axis I'd like to get large format tweeters and cross them around 2000hz
Re: suggestions for "sql" front stage
how low could I cross the tweeters?

changed my budget to $180. I'm very tempted to buy the JBL MS-62C comps. Unless I can out do those with buying individual woofer and tweeters. How would silver flutes paired with SEAS Prestige 27TFFNC/G tweets compare to the jbl's?
Re: suggestions for "sql" front stage
thanks for all the suggestions guys. I finally took the plunge and ordered a pair of the silver flute 6.5 mids.

now I just need to chose a tweeter. I want a fairly "laid back" or "warm" sounding tweeter. budget is $40 per tweeter. thanks in advance

Had alu tweeters with my diamonds and loved them.

Re: suggestions for "sql" front stage
is that basically the same as this one but in an aluminum dome instead of textile? would there be much of a sound difference between the two?

I love metal music and alu seems more detailed. Harsh at first but gets better after a while. Try both if you are not sure.. 40$ is not the end of the world.

yeah, but I have kind of found out over the last couple years that I absolutely hate any kind of harsh sounding highs/vocals. Although I also like metal music, so I'll have to think about it a bit more

Very much so. I listen to a lot of rock, house music, rap, and country. They can get very loud and take a lot of power while not sounding harsh.

They are currently high and to the front in my doors. I'm probably going to put them in my a pillars to raise the stage a bit. Overall I really am pleased with them.
