Question about using RE XXX 2ohm passive crossovers with 4ohm mids and tweets

I got a pair of new RE XXX 2ohm crossovers and was wondering how or if they will work with a pair of 4ohm mids and 4ohm tweeters? What effect will they have on the crossover point/slope?

Re: Question about using RE XXX 2ohm passive crossovers with 4ohm mids and tweets

Running a 4 ohm load on a 2 ohm passive crossover will halve the crossover frequency. So, if it's a 4khz point for 2 ohms, if you put a 4 ohm driver on it, it'll be 2khz.

I'm not sure the slope changes.

Re: Question about using RE XXX 2ohm passive crossovers with 4ohm mids and tweets

The problem with this idea is that the impedance of the tweeter on a comp set is usually not the same as the nominal impedance of the set. IOW I doubt very much the tweets are actually 2 ohms. You really can't predict the crossover freq.

Thank you guys for the responce. I'll give them a try at low power to see how it sounds. This is just a temp. fix till my 8ch amp comes back from being repaired by ZED audio. Thanks again.
