decent 6x9
looking for a set of decent 6x9's for moms buick. she tends to turn it up fairly loud and has blown the speakers in almost every car she's had.
gonna be powering them from the factory GM deck, car is a base model 2006 buick lacross. just looking for something that will sound good at factory power and have a decent amount of bass.
i havent researched or bought speakers in a while and am unfamiliar with whats out there now. can you guys make some suggestions? trying to stay under $150 and i'm not opposed to used.

WoofersEtc.com - CL-69X - CDT Audio 6 x 9" 2 Way Coaxial Speakers
Check the stock mounting first though. My Buick mounts the rear speakers from underneath and any speaker with a high rolled surround will hit the grille unless you put a spacer between the speaker and the deck. That's why I chose the Boston SE953 - they came with a spacer.

Re: decent 6x9
Perhaps the speakers are blown because they run on factory power. When a low wattage amplifier is asked to deliver more than it can, then it will clip the signal and send a square-like wave to speakers. It's much safer to turn up volume when you have a decent amplifier. If you're not installing an aftermarket amplifier, I suggest you buy the cheapest 6x9s you can find.
