One technique I've seen for protecting speakers in doors that tend to get water coming in is to buy foam baffles and cut out the back so it's like an umbrella. Sound deadening is a must for any vehicle to get the most out of your speakers. Even just some vibration damper will help with bass reproduction and reducing vibrations of the sheet metal and panels.

You could plastidip the woof baffle and use something like trumpet said to protect the rear.
