Help with new speakers!!!
I just replaced my factory speakers with two pairs of pioneer 6x8s, A pair in the front door panels and the rear. They were working fine and after 5 mins or so the rear left speaker wasnt producing sound, and I unscrewed it and replugged it in and it started working, and a minute later both the speakers in the rear cut out. My head unit is saying failure. Help me please!
Re: Help with new speakers!!!
Maybe you pinched one of the wires when you installed them, and now its arcing out on the metal?
Re: Help with new speakers!!!
How might I fix that? I Unplug them and replug them in to the speaker and by the time im halfway down the street my sony head unit states failure and it stops working. My front speakers are working beautifully though, and I installed them at the same time.
Re: Help with new speakers!!!
I would look at the speaker cabling and see if there are any breaks in the jacket that could possibly make contact with anything. Or even if there is something that could be making a connection with the speaker terminal.
Re: Help with new speakers!!!
there are breaks in the plastic wrapping. Do i need to get some more to cover the wires all the way to the speaker?
Re: Help with new speakers!!!
You can't have speaker wire, terminals, leads, etc touching metal or you will have FAIL.
Re: Help with new speakers!!!
Thanks, what should i get to cover it?
Re: Help with new speakers!!!
some shrink tube, female to female connectors, or electric tape..
Re: Help with new speakers!!!
Absolutely, only, and nothing other than new wire.

Re: Help with new speakers!!!
Yea, I accidentally did that once, had some of the bare copper touching some metal...just electrical taped it and had no more issues.
