Questions about my subs....

I recently got 2 8'' american bass xd-8 dual 4 ohm, I did calculations to find the box volume cause I was bored, and for each sub its 1.01ft3?? The guy at american bass said I needed only 1.2 ft3 for 2 subs ported, my question is this, how did it go from 2.02ft3 to 1.2ft3? is there some other math involved when you use a shared chamber?

Vb = 20*.615^3.3*7.121
28.63 liters

Fb = (7.121/28.63)^.31*45.30
29.42 hz

F3 = (7.121/28.63)^.44*45.30
24.55 hz


Those are the measurments I got for each.

when Dmin is 6'', is that the overal size of the port or just from center to edge, cause i think a 12'' port is toooooo big
