I haven't heard of JBL's power series, but the price looks good.

Here's one that's cheaper and sounds good.

    CDT CL 4X $45

    Re: Which 4" speakers?

I hadn't heard of the JBL's before either lol. I'd rather purchase something that people on this forum suggest. I just saw the huge discount on them (clearence) and figured I would mention them since they were originally $120 and I'm looking for speakers in the $60 price range.

I've got a JENSEN CD311X 40Wx4 cd player. Does that mean 160W total or does it mean 40W total, 10W per channel? Would it work fine with the speakers you suggested? Will I have to get an amp to run 6x9's on my doors, if I decide to install some.

    Re: Which 4" speakers?

If your running it from your HU, you'll get around 10-15 watts rms, 40 max/peak. If you want more details & quality i would get an external amp, it will give you better sound with that. This is good specially when your driving on the freeway, with the HU power you barely hear the sound coming from you speakers. With the stock HU power you'll just get distortion when you turn it up which is bad to the speakers.

You could always get a cheap brand am like US Acoustics from www.sounddomain.com or crutchfield. They have the 4x65 or the 4x85 4 channel amp.

Yeah I don't want anything expensive because its a truck and well... you know how "friends of friends" tend to find trucks easy to rip off if its worth their time.

If I run only 2 of the CDT CL 4X's in dash, will I need an amp for those speakers to get decent volume without distortion? Its a truck so 2 speakers is all it has for now anyway.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll add an amp later if I install speakers in the doors for sure.

I'll read some reviews about those speakers you mentioned, thanks for the suggestion.

    Re: Which 4" speakers?

I ordered the CDT CL 4x's from the zeb.com. Thanks for the information. Everyone seems to think those speakers are pretty good. I just wish I could fit 5's in there... but one speaker would be playing into the glove box, and the other would mean I'd have to move some switches lol.
