Boston Acoustic RX97's - is 70w rms too much?

    Hi All,

I have a pair of Boston Acoustic RX97 6x9's and a I came across a Kenwood KAC-823 amp well for free... BA recommends 50w rms but the Kenwood puts out 70x2 rms.. would it ok to drive these speakers and just turn down the sensativity on the amp?

I will be hooking these up to a CDA-7995 head unit...

    Thanks,

    CraZy Steve...

    Thanks,

That would be fine. Keep the gains down on the amp, and watch the bass on the head unit. I would turn that down as well. Is there a crossover built into the amp? You'd probably want to set that to like 70-100hz if possible and see how that sounds. Just listen for distortion and that will be a good sign that there is too much power/bass.

Ok Cool... I am doing the Components and The RX97's for now... the Sub will be going in later because I do not have the $$$ for an amp or a box.....
