    6X9's vs 8" sub

Hey, I was going to get some 6x9's for my Chevy Tracker then I did a search on this forum and found that 6x9's tend to distort at higher volumes.

If you know anythign about the Tracker, it is stupid small. I have alread had to get a custom box built to I could squeeze my 2 Alpine Type R 12's in the trunk, so I really have no room at all in there.

I currently have 4-4" speakers, in the factory spots. I was going to put 6x9's in the rear, because I can cut out enough space in the pannels for them. I got to thinking that Maybe I could get a single 8 for midbass, instead of using two 6x9's in place of my 2 rear 4" speakers.

I could build a box between the two rear seats for the 8" woofer.

    Which idea is better?

Any other ideas would be great too.

I think u should go with Alpine type r 6x9s. I bought a pair about 3 months ago and have pushed them to their limits and are THE clearest speakers ive heard. they r a little pricey but are deffinately worth it. The highs and mids are VERY clear at any level and the bass is very decent. I HIGHLY recommend these 6x9s
