    Re: 75 watts @ 2 ohms..recommendation?

why not just run it at 4ohm? the tradeoff of more power at lower impedance is negated by a lower efficiency anyway

Got a pm regarding my sig

    Re: 75 watts @ 2 ohms..recommendation?

As a rule of thumb a +3dB increase in sound level requires a doubling in power.

It would be slightly louder with 75w over 45w, but in reality you probably wouldn't notice it until you jumped up to 150-200w.

I don't think you're going to be able to find 2 ohm components or even coaxials in the $60 range. You could always run two sets of 4 ohm coaxials in parallel which would present a 2 ohm load.

With the power you have available I'd concentrate on an efficient set of 4 ohm speakers.

    Ok... I lied

Did some research and there *are* some 2 ohm coaxials that can be had in the $60-$80 range.

    6.5" coaxials:
    - JBL GTO628
    - Infinity Reference 6022si (shallow mount)
    - JBL GTO638
    - Infinity Kappa 62.9IS (shallow mount)
    - JBL P662s (shallow mount)
    - Infinity Kappa 652.9i
    - Kenwood KFC-X1710

Similar models are available in 5.25" as well.

For 2 ohm components the closest to your price range is the JBL GT0607c which you can get for around $95 shipped.

    Good luck!

    E
