Door panel mounted mids,Proper Sound Deadening tips?

I know how to properly deaden doors which the mids screw directly into,.. MDF baffle,non Hardening clay,sound deadener inside /outside door, but what about speakers that mount to the door panel such in Chrysler vehicles?

How can you get the best midbass(SQ) results when the speakers mount in the door panel?

Replace the door panel with a new fiberglass doorpanel

Dont think I wann get that custom with it. Trying to keep it practical.

Same way in some of the audi's. To improve midbass in the one I worked on. I made a neoprene gasket that went around the entire perimeter of the door panel. Once the door panel was put back on it created a nice seal. Improved the midbass a lot

Don't think there are any pics of it. I just took some strips of neoprene about and inch wide. Sprayed them down with glue, and folded it in half. Then glue this to the back side of the door panel around the perimeter. The A6 had a nice little lip in the back of the panel already. Took a little elbow grease to get the door panel back on. But the improvements were worth it. It works two fold, it seals the door up better than what it was, and it also breaks the physical contact of the plastic panel on the metal door alleviating a lot of the buzzes.

My mids mount to the doors..................somewhere under the 20 lbs of clay lol . Webstars Audi had the midbasses mounted on the door panels

Which driver?

My thought is those rain guard things choke the driver and change it's Q in a bad way. Do you like the sound with them in? Have you tried without?

I'd go through and glue the panel together, hence making it one more solid piece. From there, you can damp with squares of deadening mat it where it resonates. Test it by whacking it with the butt end of a screw driver.

Not a fan of creating a floating baffle by decoupling the panel from the door in this case. Let a VE damper do it's job and treat rattles at the source.

Deadening is not mass loading. Heavier things are more difficult to set into motion, sure..but use weighting things down as a tactic once a VE damper has been given a chance to do that for you. I have lots of lead and clay and other stuff in my doors too, but a little more planning and thought process could have saved me 10# and possibly my poor hinges down the road.

That is a stock speaker,and not sure what i plan on running. It sounds ok as is,just some buzzing/ rattles.
I havent took the panel off in a while but IIRC, there isn't a access hole for the speaker to breath inside the door. Just sheet metal behind it.
