I got a 2002 cavalier and im looking to replace the front speakers with 5.25" components and a 2 channel amp. I can make a mounting ring for them but does anybody have any experience with doing this kind of thing?

    Help is definitely appreciated. Thanks

Can you still fit your trim pannel if you have a mount ring and a 5.25?

If so, just go for it, check your mounting depth is always a good idea first

Re: 5.25" in place of 4x6

it's relatively easy to make. take out the stock 4x6, trace the outside to a piece of carboard. than take a grill from the 5 1/4 you plan on using and put it onto the outline you previously made. move it so that the inside diameter of the grill is inside of the outline. trace the inside and outside of the grill and BAM!! you now have a cardboard template. make sure you have atleast 3/4in of spce from the inside of the ring to the outside. you can even take the carboard template to the current speaker location and make adjustments as needed to make it fit properly.

any ideas on what speakers would be good to use? i dont think my alternator can take any more power added to it so scratch the amp idea. any speakers you would recommend for about a $100?
