That is what I have now. It is nice, I would just like to change it up a bit. has to be a small dome tweeter though.

Here is the Seas Neo Textile they also come in a metal dome but they are not harsh at all. As for the VC100s they can be harsh but they need to be off axis low away in the kicks. I did find them a bit harsh in the dash and in the snails.

As long as you can honestly tell me they are not harsh at all, I think I might give them a try. In my mind, if a tweeter has to be off axis low away in the kicks, its harsh. Shouldnt have to mess with a tweeter to get it not to be harsh. With my situation, having the tweeters in the dash not only looks nice, it sounds nice. I would have to customize something down near the mid if I wanted a tweeter down there.

    I appreciate your input!!

BTW are these silk tweeters: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5549

Seems like those would be nice!

XT25 if it will fit or an old alpine SPX XT19 derivative would fit the bill quite nicely.

If you really like something soft and laidback then look into the Morel tweets. Morel is known for being very laid back. Some would say it's too laid back for a automotive environment but SQ is subjective. I really liked the Seas Neos and kind of wish I didnt sell them. Lots of people praise the HAT L1 also so you might want to look into those.

Looks like the SEAS Prestige 27TFFNC/G (H1396) is the tweeter looking nicest to be as far as price, and reviews. What can compare to this?

Voice coil and dome material are two different things.

Morel mdt 12 tweets are hard to beat for the price and are reasonably small.

    You mean these? http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=277-060

They seem more like home tweeter than car tweeters. They are 8ohm, I thought most tweeters were 4ohm?

Dont get caught in the whole "oh noes 8ohm" BS search a little more and you will find proof that there is nothing wrong with a 8ohm speaker and that in fact they are more efficient than a 4ohm speaker. James Bang's entire front stage is all 8ohm speakers and so are my mids. Look more into speakers from madisound and parts express. I rather use raw drivers then mainstream pay for the name type speakers.

    They can't as they're 8ohm noobie

xt25's have a very nice sound and are NOT bright at all, almost mellow unless you put a lot of power to them. Ran them for a few years and have the Alpine SPX 17's now. Both are very nice and not overly expensive.

DIYMA also have several tweeter tests, so check them out and the Zaph one. Lots of good info...

Dynaudio uses silk/fabric on every tweeter they make.

The ring radiator design (XT19 and XT25) is really no good beyond about 15* off axis.

This "smoothness" you're after is probably very low harmonic distortion. Read Zaph's tests and recommendations. "Smooth" means nothing to the objective-inclined shopper. A metal dome can sound "smooth" just as easy as a fabric dome.

The Fox audiomobile now sounds more quality thanks to SDS power.
