$400 for comps what to get

i was thinking of getting two sets of comps for up front or just one good set. i was looking at 2 id CTX65CS, or 1 Morel Dotech Ovation Comp 6, 1 Rainbow CMX 265 Kick. i like good sq with loud midrange. will to go up to $500 if need be. thanks

Are you looking for accurate staging?

Personally, with that kind of a budget I'd go active and piece together the drivers separately...do you have mounting locations set, or do you have to figure that out?

I would put in one really good set of comps instead of 2 lower grade ones. check out the CDT ES620Z's, these are the ones that go for around a grand and can be had for 4 bills.

I was told the 620's were dated, and have little midbass. I was referred to the ES-62i instead. I haven't installed them yet, but they sure seem to be high quality.

im running the pioneer ts-c720prs active, for less than 250 i am very surprised with the output and build quality of the set. very high end feel for the money, the tweeter is even in a machined aluminum cup

Sorry for hijacking the thread... Are all these prices new? What good used sets would be good for $400? My budget is also $400 and I know 2 forum members that are selling Focal 165 K2P and Zapco CK-16.2... how do these two compare to the sets mentioned above?

Im not really trying to get 100% accurate staging, i just dont want to hear just highs and bass only. can you go active with rear fill? i have an idea of were to put everything, just need to know what im going to get.

Thanks for the offer for great speakers! And also thank you for making it even harder for me to decide which speakers I want to get!!!!!! lol... it makes it hard as I haven't heard any of these speakers in person and making a $400 purchase without testing the product is tough... that's why I'm so undecided and trying to read and ask as many people here for their opinions... There is a local guy here that has Focal 165 K2Ps but ****er won't respond to PM so we meet up so I can listen to his speakers

i already have the hsk 165 and i like the way they sound, but they dont have enough high end for me. the comps i had before that was the polk momo's. the tweets on the momo's was a bit to much half the times. im looking for something in the middle of that.
