    Putting 5x7 speakers in a 5 1/4 slot?

Last car broke down, my new one has 5 1/4 speaker mounts...is it possible for me to transfer my old 5x7 (6x8 whatever you want to call them) into the new car? I don't have a problem cutting the door frame a bit to make the hole wider...is it plausible?

if you're willing to cut, sure why not

as long as depth wont be a problem

so it's really just a matter of making the hole bigger? Sweet

EDIT: Ok so definitely should make sure it's deep enough before I cut...

OP: if you dont want to cut your door, build an MDF build out. i used a 1/2" sheet, cut the hole to my 6.5s, mounted them to the MDF then MDF to door with a couple screws. then dynamat it all
