    Blown Components or not?

Here is a question...I have 4in Rockford fosgate Fantic Q components in the front, and it seems that if I put them up high the bass sounds terrible like they are popping...I have more than enough power going to them..I actually have 50 watts over RMS rating but less than peak...Maybe the speakers are fine and they cant handle a certain db?

If I turn the HPF on to try and stop them from making that weird noise would that work? and How do you read the frequency settings? I have an Alpine CDA 7894 head unit..Thanks for any help you can provide...

Going 50 watts over the RMS on a 4 inch speaker is big no-no. You need to completely disreagrd the peak. My guess is that if you feed the speakers their recommended RMS power, the problem will stop.
