pioneer 720prs components?

I have polk sr6500's which I like very much, but I didn't want to spend that much on other car. The review on the 720prs's in car audio electronics mag gave them plenty of praise. I just wondered if anyone has heard them? And if the pioneers are worth the 250-260 price range? Or if there is something else in that price range that I can put in my wife's beemer?

Not really. The real strength of that set is the mid. It's a real all-star and well worth the money you'll spend on the set.

Be patient until you can find a set.

The Pioneers 720's seem to be very popular around here.

their nice speakers. The top of the line pioneer stuff is nice stuff IMO, but their image is tainted by the **** at the bottom end of their line-up

they were alright for me, i mean no doubt theyre good, but not for me, it must be a personal preference of mine or maybe it was just how they were mounted or positioned in the shop i heard em in, idk, IMO i would still rather buy some MBs or Focals or Rainbows according to the poster above theyre actually cheaper than the Pioneers

I bought a set but had to sell them because the magnets were too big to fit in the doors.

I now have the 5 inch set and they sound great. Rated at 35 watts RMS but I'm feeding them 100. These are available on Ebay.

These components are underpriced period.

wait for the new Rainbow SLCs to come out, or for the PRSs to come back into stock. The new Rainbows should be very nice. They'll include the famous CAL25 tweeter.


For a cheaper alternative, you can always look into the PG RSd components. The tweeter hasn't gotten too much praise, but the midbass is supposed to be very good.

Why would the price drop when they're using a better tweeter?

Just got a pair of the 720s from speedsound $250 shipped the same day. Yes most people are out but you can find them. Installed in a 2004 mustang - very nice speakers for the money.

I have them, but haven't installed them yet. I hear the mids output a pretty strong bottom end. The magnet is somewhat large, so make sure you have clearance. The tweeters are fairly large as well.
