do they have a set of components that are 1 ohm?

does anyone know if someone make a set of components that are 1 ohm? my 2 channel autotek amp is 200 watts rms at 1 ohm on each channel.

bought from ridinhi, vitveet, dbr, sicaudio and 99grandprixgt, and more ........... sold to player3,foomasta69, pitbull, brodiesel and dragnix 12887 traded with louisiana crx

Re: do they have a set of components that are 1 ohm?

i wasn't trying to be funny, just trying to get the power out of my amp. just curious, what if i get 2 sets that are 2 ohm and run them parallel? what kinds of components out there then are 2 ohm that are decent? i was thinking of 6.5 and tweet.

    No.
Closest is image dynamics with 2ohm.
Most components only need about 50-80w anyways

You have to consider the efficiency as well as the impedance...going to 2 ohms doesn't do you any good if the speaker takes twice as much power to get as loud

Hope I don't sound ignorant here, but efficiency #s are all over the place. I've been looking at 2 ohm comps. Infinity KAPPAs are claiming 94-95db while IDs are only 91. I have a hard time with the idea that the KAPPAs are that much more efficient. What other spec is there that tells the rest of the story??

You have to watch whether the numbers are dB/W or dB/2.83V. Some companies like to use the latter...so they get inflated ratings by 3dB or so

    - Very true. Plus, amplifier power is relatively cheap... look at the fuse rating per dollar of Hifonics and Crunch.

    - Could be true, but... possibly manufacturer's playing games with ratings... They used to have an unusually high rating for Infinity Perfect subs (96db?)... it was an in-car rating, not anechoic like most others.... so it was not a fair comparison.

So would you guys say that Infinity is probably using the db/2.83v method while Image Dynamics is using the db/W? I've been lusting after a set of Chameleon 2 ohm comps..

Back on topic: I've never seen 1 ohm comps anywhere. Infinity, JBL and ID have 2 ohm sets and Boston has 3 ohm sets. I'm sure there are others I've missed.

Orion had a 1ohm mid i believe. But it wasnt part of a component set.

I'd buy speakers based on how they sounded far before I'd ever care what impedance they happened to be
