The Alpine type X were my next favorite speakers.

at 500 a set seems more then reasonable.

I listened to many also. Got down to the polk SR's and BA pro60's at local dealers. And believe me those polk SR's sound very good but at $750 they should. Took a chance and ordered Rainbow Germaniums for a lot less. Never heard a set but read about them on this forum. I ordered the right set. PM Premieraudio for info and price.

How would you compare the type-x's to the SS's? I couldn't find a set of the X's to audition anywhere so I ended up picking up the SS's when the price was right.

The Hertz sounded liek a cat in a blender to me but they were ona board too though. Not all of the gear was in a car but the Focals gave me wood till Is aw the price.

I thought the type x's were more musical but the SS were more rock concert loud.

I tend to not listen to elevated music levels too much as I am getting old and I preffer silence alot lol.

7K DOLLARS!? No wonder she chewed your but out. I would rather shoot myself in the foot than pay that kind of money for speakers!

Interesting, I just made a thread about my SS's not being nearly loud enough. But then again I'm "young" and have been to way too many concerts. I like my music very loud.

Wow, quite a few forward sounding speakers in that list-surprised you are not complaining of leaving there with a headache...hehe.

What type of Exiles were they? I have the Xtecs and man they almost compare to my DLS ur6s and about 200 bucks less. Not the best off axis response from the tweeter but the midbass is there. I think the DLS was better though in the transition between the mid and tweeter. It felt smoother, it felt right

Re: So I went and listened to a bunch of different Front stage today

To be honest everything sounded like **** compared to the uptopia's. I didn't listen for extended periods of time though. The guys were busy and I hit 3 shops too.

That being said the k2p's were very decent but not when I listened to the utopia's after. If I just never heard them, I think I would giving a resonable wife think of buying the k2p's.

Still they wanted 1300 for them here. Stupid Canadia dollars
