Focal 165K2P vs. Rainbow CS 265.25

Hi well I had the Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.5 but I just sold them to my bro cause his Alpine set got stolen last night and he wanted to buy my set, ok so heres my plan and I want some opinions of any of you that have had these sets or have heard them.

    I want to get either the Focal's 165K2p $500

    http://cgi.ebay.com/FOCAL-165K2P-6-5...em250069658048

or the Rainbow CS 265.25 $410

    http://www.speedsound.com/product.as...ific=jojoeohrq

Also if this helps, Im gonna be powering them with an Eclipse EA4000 4 channel amp at 75w RMS x 4 at 4 ohms.

Also one other thing, I made a previous thread about getting rear fill on my 02 Silverado, well I found out that I can fit 4" components in the rear so Im gonna get those also, but if I go with either Focal or Rainbow's I want to get the same brand, so if I get Focal's I will get these

Focal Kp 100 4" component Set $300 if I shop around maybe

    http://www.speakersound.com/index.ht...talog44_0.html

or if I go with Rainbow's which would you recomend?

    thanks for the help guys.

Re: Focal 165K2P vs. Rainbow CS 265.25

I have heard/owned both those products and would go with the Rainbow's over the Focals. They both sound good, but the Focals are very hard to listen to for any period of time. They hurt my ears after 30-40 minutes auditioning them with the Focal disk. Also, the Germanium's crossover is superb, with many more options then most passive crossovers.

As far as buying... A guy has the germs for sale in the classifieds here. Might pm him and see if you can get them for cheaper??? Also, it might seem like a dumb question, but is speadsound.com an authorized dealer (aka warranty)? You might try dropping 6spdcoupe and/or premieraudio a pm to see if they can get you a better deal too...

Finally, I wouldn't suggest spending a lot/any money on rear fill. Personally, I would go invest in an alarm (or a better one) considering you just got jacked

I would check with 6spdcoupe on the speed sound site. I think it's a couple of years out of date.

I liked the K2P's also, but I installed some Germs in our Tahoe, and they are superb. The crossovers are very flexible to make different install options possible.....Rainbow for sure.

Speed and Sound have been having some issues with Distinct Intl. They are the USA distributors of Rainbow. They are not authorized dealers of them, and they sell old stock.

Anywho. Any dealer will be able to give you a good price if you ask.

Both are a good set of speakers. I have had the pleasure of auditioning both. But like everyone has said, the focals have a little harsher highs.

Re: Focal 165K2P vs. Rainbow CS 265.25

Thanks guys I was leaning towards the Rainbow's and now with this and some other info i gathered Im alot more sure of what I want, does Rainbow make a 4" coax? if so I can get that.

Enzo, lol it wasnt me who got jacked it was my brother :S, I sold him my set after he tld me he needed new comp set so I sold them. I have a good alarm system so Im not worried about that. I could use some type of cover for my stereo, the CD5000 doesnt have the detachable face

x2 the profi kickbass is an awesome driver. It will be more then those two sets you have up there.

Rainbow has a 4" coax (like the kx100). Check it out on their site here.

OT hey premieraudio can you pm on the price of a single germanium w165 driver. My mom destroyed mine.

Unfortunately they are, they resigned in the past few months although their numbers are quite low and at those prices I will personally be enforcing their change in policy. I just havent had time to get over the bridge to talk to them yet, but I am their rep.

PS: i dont think you can be sure if your going to get a new model or an older model with them, Couse they used to sell old stuff.
Don remember i was going to buy speakers from them you told me dont their couple of years old.

    Their pricing structure.

Until recently it was all old stuff and currently they do still have a few older models on there (circa '02-'04).

Hey Don, didnt know they resigned...How were they able to resign after having their prices so low and selling old stock? Obviously under an agreement to raise their prices back up to MAP or something?
