Tweets to go with Ascendant Audio Poly Mids

Well I was going to go with a 3-way active setup, but scratched that idea because of some budgetary issues. So now I have to figure out a nice 2 way setup. I'm going to pick up a set of the Poly mids, so I need some tweeters to finish out the set. I listen to mostly rock, but a little bit of everything finds its way into my cd player. Looking to bring it in for under $75 for the tweets.

What's the consunsus around here on CDT TW-24s? I can get them on woofersetc for $60 with attentuation control. I've also heard great things about the Rainbow CAL25s, but have no idea what those run.

1) how will they be installed?

2) is a large format possible?

They will be installed in the factory dash location. I believe that the opening is for a 4" speaker, so the large tweeters should fit too.

Why not run the Vifa/LPG's that AA sells? I'm VERY happy with them and they match up with the poly mids nicely.

Can't find any spec for them on the site. Besides, I can get a very nice set for around the same cash that I trust more.

the xt25 tweets that mlstrass is referring to i think is a nice tweet. on axis is preferred with this tweeter.

How would it do in the dash bounicing off the glass?

^ probably not too bad. My Type X tweets (custom made variant of the Vifa XT25) sound good in the stock sail panels of my Golf. They each point at their respective opposite front seat, so defiitely off axis. Not as much as they'd be bouncing off the windshield, but you could always fashion up some angled pods if you don't like the way they sound.

Yep the xt25's are quite nice sounding. Not harsh, but plenty of detail and presence. Gets VERY good reviews on a few DIY forums I frequent.

not trying to complicate things but how about a seas neo tweet?

Yea I love my Seas neos. I have textile version because I like smooth and warm tweets, but you could also go with the aluminum for more detail. Do a search on diyma and you will see The Peerless HDS tweet would be nice too

i like the metal dome more but yeah, those are the seas neos. they are imo the best budget tweets available and sound great. the metal dome is very detailed and can be crossed pretty low. Also they are not harsh at all and sound more like a silk tweet.
