If your going to use the AA poly mids i would deff. get an external amp otherwise look into cheaper speakers that take less power, also the poly mids are just mids so you will most likely want to run some tweeters also.
equipment laying around:
Hifonics BX1205D
Hifonics ZX6400
2 12" type R's
Panasonic CQ-C7103U
New stuff on the way.

yes need amp, no hu power.
will a profile amp work? i'm trying to keep it low budget.

I wouldn't do that to those beautiful little speakers.....
get a cheap 2 channel jbl or massive amp to run TWO aa poly mids ...
using this kind of speaker in the back is a waste unless you are going surround sound...
just run stock rear speakers off of the hu
well good luck

that's a great idea. But the thing is i have a stock amp and would have to bypass it and if i can get the rear speakers to work then they all should work, it's complicated. but if that if i can get to were that's a possibility i will do that.

HU power gets em nice and loud. Get an amp though.

i'm assuming you are going ahead with the pioneer 7800 in your sig
i would use the pioneer hu to power the stock rear speakers
buy a 4 channel amp (jbl, memphis, massive...etc) to power two aa poly mids and some good tweeters- some of my favorite budget tweets are lpg 25nfa, lpg 26 na, seas neo metal, b&g neo 3, etc-these can be bought at madisound.com)
this way you can completely bypass the stock amp and get great sound.....well....at least a start (it all depends on the install)

i have some stock tweeters. just not sure if i should replace them or not. couldn't i run the tweeters off the HU since they draw less power?

you definately can, despite what people say imho 5 watts is enough to get almost any dome tweeter plenty loud.... (don't know about horns or ribbons )
anyways, you could run the tweets and the rears off of the hu and the polys off of a 2 channel amp, just make sure you set the crossovers right.. active setups can be tricky![]()

okay, so would a kicker kx 200.2 rated at 85 x 2 at 4 ohms be a good amp for two AA mids in the front doors with the hu powering the rear doors and tweeters?
