speakers to match 2 12 type r's?

i am getting two type r's 12 inch and i know i cant just have subs with the crappy door speakers in my 97 escort. i was woundering what do i need besides the subs? i want to hear the music and the bass and be loud not crazy loud but to match the loudness of the subs. do i need 6 x 9's and componets or just one or the other any info be great thanks

Read. If you need speakers, well then.. you'll probably need speakers.

Just read.

Avoid 6 x 9's, and just get some 6.5" Components instead. Amp them. Find out what other people are getting, check out the Speaker subsection of the forum.

More info needed, What kind of amp do you have for the comps and coax? what kind of car is it and what size do you speakers fit?

i dont have a amp for speakers yet i will probley get one to match speakers. i dont know what will fit but its a excort 97 sedan lx but i would be willing to modify the door to get them fit. is there any good co axis that are decent. componets are a little expensive for what i am willing to spend. if i get 6 x 9 co's what would be good speakers in the back? are they even needed in the back? thanks

1st of all sound is round. 6x9s are bad.
2nd buy 6.5 components for the front and power then with a 2chan amp. it's worth whatever modifying you have to do to get them in there, and it shouldn't be much. 6.5s open up a ton more speakers to choose from and you'll generally get more output from them because they are bigger.
3rd forget the rear speakers leave em stock for your rear passengers. or get rid of them altogeter.
4th pick a price range. like...i want to be under 500 for front speakers and amps shipped to my house. also do you need power wire? add another 50 bucks or so...

ok thanks on crunchfeild is says that the 6.5 fit my escort in the back and front so i dont think any mods will be needed. are the pioneers 6.5 revs any good? any other suggestions i am looking to spend like 250 for sub and amp. does the amp have to be that great? like just like 75 watts rms 2 chan? but will say rainbows slc sound a ton better? what about say a pioneer componet? is there a noticelby big diffrence in co's to comps? any info be great

o and what kind of speaker wire do i need? i am not installing much of this. do i need rca's? what are they used for and recommendations on wires?

this amp kit which gives you the RCAs you need and close to enough speaker wire. for 70

40 build a custom ported box for it tuned to around...35hz. sounds hard but really isn't bad and worth the money you save. and it will be better then any prefabbed box and a ton cheaper then having them build you one.
