Best set of components for $200 or less for Metal/Rock/Techno music??

I want to feed a set of components 60-70W RMS X2, or I have an amp that will give a set 150W RMS X2 so I was thinking A/D/S, or maybe a set of CDT's. I want my rock/metal tracks to be able to be cranked up to a pretty loud level without the speakers giving out.

Any suggestions for the best brand suited for these types of music?

i am using the Cl line that is lower series then those fiberglass ones you linked and they sound wonderful. i listen to all kinds of music from hiphop to metal to trance and they are very detailed and natural sounding, again i am using the entry level cdt's so those should sound even better. IMO id go for the FG's

Thanks jacka. Which component line puts out a better more powerful, balanced sound? The Rainbows or the CDT's? And which tweeter would you say is still crisp, but a little less harsh of the two?

you can do a search and come up a decent idea on here. slc's and ef's have been discussed here and there.

I'm an avid rock/metal listener. I found the Focal K2P series do very nice. Although they do have a metal tweeter but it is much better than the MB Quart tweeter. I've heard the Rainbow SLC line and they sounded a bit muddy less detailed in comparison to the Focal. Haven't heard CDT but hear good things about them. A/D/S was a bit dull for rock/metal IMO. The Boston Acoustic Pros are also great but can sound thin at times but they get pretty loud. Image Dynamics Chameleons have the dynamics of the Focals but smoother highs, probably what you're looking for. Everyone has different tastes. Above all, I recommend auditioning to see what you like best.

CDT is a good choice but I find there tweets lacking and 2 laid back for me, I 2nd the Rainbow or my personal set, the Crystal SSCS6.

CDTs are more laidback, with a smooth midbass. Rainbows are what you are looking for...

With 70x2rms not many will believe me saying this cause im not to fond of the brand but the DLS ms6 is a def winner. Great set with moderate to low power. Decent midbass output but the set shines in the midrange and top end. Very well balanced set and is great with all music types. You should be able to score a set for around $225 or less. With 150x2rms the cdt EF series is also another great set. Midbass is decent midrange is comparable to the ms6 and so is the tweeters. Will come down to personal preference between the 2 sets. You can get these for around $200. The only time i have heard the rainbows was in a friends truck and they sounded exactly the way computerparts described. I guess we both like the added detail of a metal dome I have seen a few reviews in mags of the rainbow sets of course they are all mags from europe which i have either gotten from cdt or back in the day from dls when i use to deal them. If your interested give me your email addy and i can send you scans of reviews of the dls, cdt cl , and slc all compared to each other.

hands down...the12voltkings on ebay are having the a/d/s 346cs clearout special...regularly 600 BUCKS on other sites (froogle it) for 139......i should have bought like 5 pairs, i wonder if they still have some.. Stewart
