Problem with brand new XR650's
Ok, my friend just bought a set of JL Audio XR650 components and coax's for his SUV. He had his local shop called Chronic Car Audio install them with some sort of 4 channel amp and he is telling me they sound like sh**. Since I live far away from him now I can't help him too much, he is gonna take it to best buy to see if the shop messed up the install or not. I told him to take it back to the original shop and find out what the hell they did to the setup. Some things I tell him to check are
-How are the crossovers set up
-Are the RCA's run on same side as power wire
-Were the speakers tampered with from Indo Audio, he bought them from Indo and is worried about them being cut and glued wrong like it warns on the JL website
-How is the frequency set on the amp
The things i know least about are crossovers. I am also most concerned about online sellers tampering with the products like that to remove serial numbers, especially since I had my heart set on a set of those XR's and a 8W7 and can't pay full price from the stores for them.

Re: Problem with brand new XR650's
"sound like ****" doesn't tell us much.
What exactly does he mean by "sounds like ****"? Is there a hiss/whine? Distorted midbass? Extremely harsh high frequencies? Poor midrange performance?
Lots of different definitions of "sounds like ****", and lots of different causes that could be related to the different issues.
Need more facts/more specific definition of the problem before we could help much.
Power wire near RCA's won't matter much,
