Diamond Audio D661s

Thinking of ditching the REV's and getting 2 pairs of these.
Have any of you guys auditioned these before?? Let me know your inputs. Good, bad sounding speakers?? Good midbass? What about high end extension?

they really excel at high frequencies, but midbass lacks considerably. they are loud as long as you keep most of the midbass frequencies out of them, they really dont like it. i gave up on mine and sold them.

If I get them, the x-over will be at 100hz with 12db slope.
My current comps are anything but good at midbass, I'll be happy if these surpass them in every way!

i still wouldnt get them. they are at best a mediocre set.

OK so Ive made up my mind. I could get either the D661s or CDT CL-61a for the same price. I have 75W+ RMS to give each side. The whole vehicle is sound deadend with Dynamat X. Which set should I go with?

both are going to want more power than that, like twice that much.

Pm Toxic Tuan and get Crystal SSCS6's for $130 + shipping. Over even go over to ROE and get them from Shon for the same price.

im running the older M661 w/LPG 25nfa tweet. have the mids crossed up at 80hz @12db slope, 150W to each side. i have no problems at all with midbass, no distortion at high volumes, very clear and clean. Its all about install i have to say.

. coming from a guy with dimond as his user name. you need to hear some reall midbass and see what it sounds like.

hahahaha yea, still good for a shallow driver. what mids have you heard or own that seems to be so ****n good.....??? i aint a one sided diamond lover. i know theres better drivers out there for midbass, all im saying is that im stil satisfied wit mine.

at the moment, i have the zapco reference components. i have had focals, dynaudios, jl xr's, bostons, and many many more.

If you were looking at the CDT CL-61A's, definately get them over the 661s. I got the upgraded tweeters with mine, seen here http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4418 and they sound absolutely amazing. The midbass response is also excellent. Even these 6.5's let me find rattles in my car.

x2 on the midbass on the diamonds....thats the one department they really lack in.....but the higher frequencies do get loud as hell though......I would not reccomend the diamond comps at all as Im planning to switch to a different set myself......
