$200 range, need 6.5s...NEED OPINIONS

my DA's arent doing so good.........so im looking into so new comps for the front doors........will probly get around 150w rms or a lil less off my memphis 4ch bridged......

looking for best woofer output and SQ than tweeter.......i need the mids to do the best they can keeping up with my 4hp

recommendations in that price range?

Alpine SPX-177R, or maybe the Polk MMC6500...

The Type X's will murder the Polks in SQ. You'll need to fabricate a fairly tall spacer out of MDF to fit them in a MKIV Golf (I'm going to be putting them in my 03 GTI here hopefully soon).

yeah i put some type x comps in the girlfriends car and i settled for the type r comps in my car, i got the shaft type x's ftw

they sound great if you get the setup right very crisp and clean i would reccomend doing a nice door treatment though (deadening and sealing the back of the woofer from the front and then they soun even better

and i hope you are going use them on an amp and not the head unit

my kenwood xxv-04s are up for auction, they wont fit in my doors worth a ****

i didn't set a reserve, tho, and not too many people even know what they are, or know kenwood makes speakers better than the $80 ones at best buy

i'd probably go with the x's tho

i am using the regualr cdt cl61's my brother just rid of his hex to get these cdt's below and we both love the way these speakers sound, they make the music sound real in a way i cant explain. the come with silk tweeters that sound so silky and smoothe you just cant get enough

Focal 165v1, they sound great in my car with no deadning or anything. At high volumes the tweeters get a little harsh, but overall there probably one of the better speakers you can get for $200.

kinda leaning towards the type x's.........and yes they'd go off the amp, deck powers the rear fill....i bridge the memphis to get some godo power ont he comps

Id go with the type X's or pm 6spdcoupe and ask about some soundlines.IMO if you have the money get the soundlines with the kickbass mids and you will b happy

But its between the type X's and the soundlines are teh best mentioned in this thread
