Bump.
Good Question.
It ***** that the only place to hear ANY compnent sets within 2 hours of my location only carries Boston's. I've heard a set of SL60's running off deck power and was very impressed. For $230 bucks however, all the advice I'm hearing is that the SLC's are a superior set. COmments?
For a good question, im not getting too many responses .. lol

Try asking Don...im sure he has heard bothIll tell you this though, im betting the SLCs are out pf Bostons league, seems like an unfair comparison IMO....

Haven't heard the SLC's but you better have some power to push those boston's. I have a PG xenon 200.2 pushin about 220-240 per side and they could take even more than that. Definitely one of loudest and cleanest comp sets I've ever heard if you give them the power they want.
I love my Boston Pros. I haven't heard the SLCs, though.
jus got the boston pro 50's about 5 min ago via UPS....not installed or anything but just from looking at em the build quality seems superb and they look nice too......i cant wait to put em in
Spend the $ you would've put on rear fill on a good set of components, and your passengers won't care. My germaniums are loud enough off of 2x120w or so that they easily fill the entire cabin with strong sound, over the 12w6 on 300w. And, an added bonus, you don't have weird echoey delays on vocals etc. coming from the subwoofer's locationOriginally Posted by 2LouDFoRThiS

No, of course not...Originally Posted by 2LouDFoRThiS
Just giving you suggestions. Just because i'd advise another set in your circumstances doesn't make the pro-60's a bad set of speakers
From what i've read, though, you'll want 200+w per side to push the pro's --- 250-300w per side seems to be the going recommendation. Germaniums are decent at only 50-60w input and shine at 100-120w. From what i've read (i don't have an amp capable yet) they pound on 200w/side.
I used to have rear fill. I killed it and never looked back. Passengers do get in my car and ride, and when the music is at reasonable listening volume they say the mids/highs are quite strong and clear. Removing rear fill, you will likely notice an immediate clarity in vocals and instruments that you lacked before but never realised you did. I compare it to singing in a bathroom vs. singing in a padded room though that's a little extreme of a descriptionHaving audio coming from behind you AND from a large distance difference from the fronts is just not ideal. If you had crazy time alignment you could make rear fill sound OK i imagine, but only for the spot that you time-aligned it for; the rest of the people would end up with it being even worse than it already is. Good components up front, properly powered, are going to be really loud man.
