I basically wanted a Seas Excel 8" . The W21 Excel was made in 4ohm many years ago but it is RARE as hell to find one, nevermind two. I happen to know someone that has one, and will not part with it in hopes another will turn up in the future.
So searching for that led to a thread on ECA. It turns out this CW21 driver was last available back in 2001 as a raw driver. Since then only 3 people that i know of -all at ECA- Jeff(werewolf), Jun (technobug) and I have had MobilSQ contact Seas in Norway to have these drivers made per order. So , in a sense they are not custom drivers as in the sense that I had them made my way or anything, but they can only be handwade per order in this fashion as its not a production driver.
It did take 6 weeks, give or take and cost was no different for asking prices on a pair of Excel 8's from Madisound.
