yea can't really tell a difference between just by looking a spec sheet unless of course you are looking at graphs such as distortion plots, frequency response graphs, etc. maybe the build quality is different between the speakers, maybe different materials were used. you can't really tell just by looking at a normal spec sheet.

Different cone material and crossover ( 3 way)
They are the same line, one is just 3 way instead of 2. Hence the higher power handeling

No, both lines have 2-ways aswell, they are two separate lines;Originally Posted by Eldorado

If you look at the description, it gives you a lot of the differences;

Different cone materials on the mids, different magnet systems, looking at the pics they have different baskets aswell, and looking at the spec sheet on DLS's website the mids have totally different T/S parameters....which would lead me to believe that they are totally different midwoofers aswell. The crossovers themselves look to be totally different units, and if you look the listed slopes of the crossovers are different.Originally Posted by UR5
All of this pointing to the fact that they are just two totally different component sets in about every aspect. Different speakers used, different crossovers, different specifications.
But I believe the UR line is "higher" in the hierorchy than the UP series, which would indicate that they should have atleast slightly better performance.
it just kinda confused me when i see the up series power handling is greater than the ur.
have you heard either set? i just don't want a quart style tweet.

Trust me, neither tweet is a 'quart style' tweet. But I will tell you that if you are coming from a high detail tweet, these hold back alot- a lil' too warm and laid back for my personal taste. And I have grown out of the whole poly/mica cone sound out of mids....just not authentic enough.Originally Posted by loud1500
Both sets are nice sounding without a doubt and make for good listening. I'd go with the UR's myself, i like the tweeter better and tonality of the mid better. But if you are craving more realism, emotion, and airiness...i'd look elsewhere
If you want smooth, 'wet towel over the speaker' sound...you are in the right ballpark
